Ash and I started watching The Borgias recently, which presents an intriguing look into the world of corruption. I can’t speak to the historical accuracy of this show, but the opulence is absurd.
Humans have always had a hard time with power and control. It consumes us and turns us into vile monsters. At least it can, and it does happen often.
Why is this?
Let’s discuss.
Our corrupt ways
No profession is safe from the corrupt human heart. It’s sad to see how we can become consumed by pursuing worldly power and control. It’s why I’m so hesitant to make lots of money. Or to even be successful.
I’m afraid of losing myself in it.
It happens a lot. People become morally corrupt in pursuit of the power they yearn to feel. The wounds of our past often drive this behavior, but without awareness, we plow forward.
What stands out is how most people believe they are doing the right thing.
Regardless of the depth of our corruption, we can convince ourselves what we’re doing is best.
In the Borgias, the focus is on the Pope and the Catholic church during the Reinnesance period between the 15th and 16th centuries in Rome. Making the show even more disruptive and disturbing to watch.
You can see how throughout history, we have justified terrible means to reach the end we desire.
The higher the nobility of the profession, the deeper the potential of corruption.
Look at politics in America today; it’s a clown show. Almost total political corruption exists in both major parties. It’s a travesty driving a wedge between humanity.
What’s fascinating is the belief we attach to our ambitions to validate our pursuits.
People who do terrible things almost always believe they are doing the right thing.
What’s wild is how frequently we believe it’s doing God’s work.
Terrible things… God’s work…
This is why many despise religion.
The corruption.
The problem is that this takes people away from knowing our Creator.
We confuse the corruption of humanity with the skilled hand of our Creator.
We often blame Him for the state of the world and the bad in it.
But this is what happens with free will.
We can choose.
Sometimes that means choosing corruption and darkness.
Which creates terrible scenarios in our world.
Corrupt leaders exemplify this.
They embody almost a superego.
So many have taken the life of Christ and used it as means to an end.
God is used to justify all kinds of terrible things in the world.
It’s very sad.
This is why setting new standards are so vital.
We must live like every act, and thought is recorded.
It’s time to end the shadow’s reign upon Earth.
Living consciously counters this.
Corruption happens in the shadows.
It’s built on deception.
It’s the only way it can stand.
Truth stands the test of time and doesn’t need to hide.
The more truthful we become, the more truthful our society will be.
This is the essence of awakened living.
Bringing awareness to all that we do.
It’s a tricky path sometimes, but it is well worth it.
Corruption will be exposed in time.
It always is.
The light of the Heavens can only be held off for so long.
We are in a new age.
The early changes always are painful.
It will only become more painful as our harsh reality is exposed.
But this is all a good thing.
It’s the only way we can uproot this corruption and move forward.
It’s a tale as old as time.
But it is changing.
The way is in each of our hearts.
Will we have the courage to live in truth?
Time will tell!
